OVERVIEW
Born in Houston, TX., and the son of parents whom both attended and played basketball at the University of Texas, Winston Shepard has basketball in his blood. Shepard is a 6’8 205lb 5-star out of famed Henderson, Nevada, basketball powerhouse, Findlay Prep. Along with teammates Anthony Bennett, Dominic Artis, and Brandon Ashley, Shepard and the Findlay Prep Pilots finished 32-1 and grabbed the 2012 ESPN National High School Invitational championship. As Rivals 21 recruit in the Class of ’12 Shepard became the highest rated recruit to sign a National Letter of Intent with the Aztecs of San Diego State. Capable of playing and defending multiple positions, Shepard carries versatility few in the class of ’12 approach. Although 6’8, there’s a fair chance he sees significant time as a hybrid Point Guard/Point Forward under Coach Fisher. Rated #40 by Rivals as late as February of this year, Shepard parlayed a strong Senior campaign into then coveted 5th star and the #21 overall spot.

OVERVIEW
Katin Reinhardt wrapped his recruitment fairly early and inked with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. Had he not his may have been one of the more hotly contested battles of the ’12 class. The 6’5 Guard is an innovative and skilled scorer, and his game carries plenty of sizzle. A member of the high powered Mater Dei High Monarchs , Reinhardt teamed with Stanley and Xavier Johnson to lead the squad to a ’11-’12 record of 34-2 and the school’s 8th California State championship. Reinhardt’s ’11-’12 play garnered the CIF Southern Section Co-MVP award with the aforementioned Xavier Johnson. Originally a USC commit, Reinhardt announced he was reopening his recruitment…..USC Coach Kevin O’Neil subsequently informed Reinhardt USC was no longer interested in his services. Despite all Reinhardt’s personal success, Coach O’Neil’s decision may have been the best thing to happen in Reinhardt’s young basketball career. USC endured several defections in ’11-’12, and Coach Dave Rice and staff seem to have UNLV on the verge of reviving late 80’s/early 90’s success. (more…)
